Is what you do, who you are?

Isn’t it great that God calls us by name? Whilst we seek identity from what we have, what we do, our relationship status, we have a God who has an identity for us that is not based on what we do, but on who He is !🙌🏻

Before any human title we may acquire , it’s important that we know that we are children of God. He is our creator, we are His creation, He is the potter and we are the clay .

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Growing up as a teen l tried to gain identity by what l did and by my possession. See having being so insecure, l thought that l had to obtain love from God by my performance.

That was far from the truth!, Nothing in this world has power to define who you are in God. He loved us before we even loved Him, He validated and approved of my existence before l was even born! Nothing that l could do can separate me from His love.

You can become so consumed with what you do so much that you forget who you are. It may be that you are a mother, a father, or have a high status in the community, it may be that you do something in the house of God. Whatever it is you are first and foremost “God’s own”.

Even if you fail at what you do, you will still be a child of God.Even when you lose what you have, God still says that you are His!

This truth, changed my life. I pray that it encourages you!

Much love 💖

A renewed Mindset

I have been pitiful for years , now l want to be powerful. I realise that Christianity is not a walk in the park but l also know now that Jesus Christ died so that l may have and enjoy life in its abundance.

JOHN‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”

http://bible.com/1588/jhn.10.10.amp

Much of what we often cry for we have already been given . The art of receiving is  my struggle as l have now realised. It’s starts by believing in the word of God.

A constantly renewed mindset is undoubtedly key to receiving the all that God has given us. A mind that thinks according to the word of God. A mind that knows and is renewed according to the knowledge of God. By doing that we understand the perfect will of God for our lives.

ROMANS‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭AMP‬‬.

And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”

Seems to me the more l think according to this world, the more my goals are set as per this world the less l understand and the less l live in the perfect will of God…

Focus more on what God says and who he says you are, reminding yourself of what you have received on Jesus Christ. Until it transforms to your reality.

I am actually preaching to myself too.

Let us continue to be transformed by renewing our minds daily.

May God’s grace be sufficient for you

The covered up life..

John 8:32(NKJV)         And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

2 Corinthians 3:16        “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

The truth should set you free..

The gospel l knew was a gospel of perfection . And so l pretended to be perfect. I wanted to be loved and to fit in so would study people.  If they thought l was quiet l would be that to them. In that life l tell you l had many friends.  Yet inside l was screaming to be myself.

If you have to please your friends for you to keep them, then they are not your friends anyways.

I thank God that he is teaching me His truth, l am in the process of being transformed. Having been rejected in many occasions left me determined to never be vulnerable. So l lived a covered up life.

God loves you just as you are, you don’t need to be perfect. Just be the you he created …

In being vulnerable, in sharing my story , in being truthful l have found joy and freedom.

I hope this encourages you

The reason Why?

There are many times l have done things out of habit without really thinking about what I was doing.

The past year God took me into some situations where l had to ask myself why l go to church, why do l pray and why do l sing.

I was born and raised in the church, for me Sunday was a day to go to church, l had never not gone to church on Sunday it’s something we did. I would feel terrible if l didn’t.
So when things began to get hard, so much that all l knew was shattered. The people l used to go to church with left. The things l used to do easily became harder. I had to put more effort, travel longer, pray more, my friends had left. I wanted to quit.

And God asked me Why? God was looking to change my way of thinking and living, my way of serving. See l had become religious. I had good intentions but l didn’t please God. I was more concerned about people than l was with what God wanted. Realising this shook me.
God had begun a process of changing my why..

Your why should always include the fact that you love God. Your motive should always come back to God.

To worship him because we love him. To go to church to hear his word and to worship him together with others.

There is no love without sacrifice. When things get hard, don’t quit before asking yourself why. See because deep down l did love God, l wanted to please him. So if my reason for going to church was because l had friends and family there then when they left l would leave too.

If my reason for giving, for loving and serving God was because it was easy when it got hard then l would give up.
God wants you, your heart and your love. And l honestly believe God deserves that, he deserves being served in honesty. Situations are not always ideal and that doesn’t mean God is not there.

So l vowed to worship God wether happy or sad.

Do l encounter difficulties yes,                 Do
l find myself alone at times yes,        Do people misunderstand at times yes.

But the reason l serve God is because l love him and he is worthy of all of me. God is God, the creator of heaven and earth.

I began a journey to finding out who God is to me.  I can testify that as soon as l changed my Why, my life has never been the same. There is meaning and purpose in my life now.

I believe that is why God says in John 4:23

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

God seeks people to worship him in spirit and in truth, our way of serving is an art of worship, and when we serve him with the right reasons we please him.

Challenge your reasons Why?

I hope this encourages you
