The matter of the heart..

Granted there are so many situations in life that live us bruised and wounded in our hearts. However to be able to live a joyful, free and pleasing life to God we must forgive. That means getting rid of all the offence , bitterness and resentment which are not only poisonous to our lives but they hinder our relationship with God.

The heart,  as l have now realised is so important to God, 1Samuel 16:7 as clearly says that God is more interested in what goes on in your heart..

Offence in our hearts prevents us from hearing from God and going deeper in our relationship with Him.

I can testify that in those times when l have been angry and offended my heart became hardened, l was not able to hear what God was saying to me about the situation. We have to fight for our relationship with God by preserving our hearts.

Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.” ‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Here is why we need to guard our hearts and refuse to be offended. It is with the heart we:

  • Believe –For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous–being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation.”‭‭ROMANS‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬
  • Trust – Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.”PROVERBS‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭AMP‬‬
  • Love -Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37 NIV
  • Find God -You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:13 NIV
  • We dwell continually in God presence –“O LORD, who may lodge [as a guest] in Your tent? Who may dwell [continually] on Your holy hill? He who walks with integrity and strength of character, and works righteousness, And speaks and holds truth in his heart.” PSALM‬ ‭15:1-2‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I found myself wondering if God looks at my heart, how well have l been looking after my heart? With the heart we understand God, we love him, we are saved because we believed in our hearts. How well then can we get closer to God with an offended heart?.

It may not even be your doing, it maybe something that happened in your past that has offended you, how you were treated, decide today that even though you don’t understand You want God more than the answers “..

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22 NIV

🙏“Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”‭‭PSALM‬ ‭51:10

It’s a daily process , l literally have to wake up daily and refuse to be offended, or to let any circumstances, any person to cause me to grow roots of bitterness and resentment. God is love so l will choose to love.

I hope you are encouraged to continue to guard your heart.

Perfect Love …

8368705946_85ed9a72ce_b

I have begun a journey of finding out more about God’s love for me.  There more I understand it and try to comprehend it I am blown away and driven to tears. That God loved me so much that He gave His only Son that I should not perish.  It is literally beyond me how much God loves us.

Throughout my search for self-worth, I had been blinded from the love that is available to me through Christ. See  I knew there was a void and I tried to fill this void many ways and failed. What determines your self-worth? My StoryWhat determines your self-worth? My Story

In my blindness I became afraid.  I can testify that I lived under fear for so long. At times I could not even get out of the house.

Fear of  failure, fear of the unknown, fear of being different, fear of people,  fear of not being loved,  fear of trying new things..     The list could go on forever. I felt caged, my heart was sick, it was so heavy on me and I hated myself.

I thank God that he opened my eyes.  Fear was a weapon the devil has used to keep me from my destiny and purpose in God. The revelation God gave me was that l needed to receive his love, to let his love grow in me, to understand it so much so that it becomes engraved in me. That I am loved beyond measure. How can l be afraid when understanding the love God has for me and when l begin to love God so much in return. You would do anything for those you love.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  1 John 4:18

God’s love for me drives out fear. I am no longer a slave to fear. Yes at times I have to confess it on a daily basis and remind myself that l have no reason to be afraid. Fear takes away joy, peace and freedom.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.  2 Timothy 1:7

Prayer:                                                                                                                                                Dear Father help us to grow into sufficient understanding of your love for us. That we may be bold to walk in the power You made available to us. In the name of JESUS CHRIST, AMEN

I hope you are encouraged

God loves you

Much love

We love because he first loved us..

Having been a very insecure person and struggled to find worth, l can tell you that l often found myself finding it hard to love people.  It seemed words of people would get be all upset and unknowingly people would do things and have me all heart broken. The root was in my past as you would know if you read my blog on What determines your self worth.

It took me a long time to understand that disagreement doesn’t mean disapproval. Just because people disagree with you doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. I constantly found myself associating people who had different opinions with me as haters.  To me it meant they didn’t love me.

I thank God, because he then taught me to love myself. He taught me about his love which is unconditional. It doesn’t matter what l do or don’t do he still loves me.

In Romans 8:35-39 we read that nothing can separate us from the love of God! Nothing in this world and through God we are more than conquerors because he first loved us.

However people do wrong us, even more the people we love, the people we are to work with even in our churches. When that happenes remember to pray for those that wrong you. You will find that you really can’t hate those who you deliberately pray for.

Be intentional about loving others it pleases God when we love, because God himself is Love. 1 John 4:8 says “whoever does not love has not known God for God is love”.

Love you all

Are you going through a lonely season?

IMG_20160421_164830[1]

Are you going through a lonely season? Have you lost all that you thought you knew? Is what you are waiting for not coming?.

Now could it be that you had placed that person, that position, that wealth, the idea of having whatever it is you desired as more important to you than God? Could it be that you had begun to consult them people more than God.

In 1 Kings 18 we see Elijah asking the people of Israel ” Is there no God that you consult Baal” Friends Baal stands for anything that you classify as more important even unknowingly, and it takes God’s place in your life. It could be your friends, your phone, money the idea of getting married so much so that that is where you spend all your energies at.

See our God is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14), he wants your all. There is a danger friends in putting anything else as more deserving of you than God. You endanger yourself and that person. God will literally separate you so he can turn your heart back to him. He has the power to take away from you everything so that your focus is on entirely on him.

I can testify to such seasons and I believe God wants me to encourage someone out there who might be going through the same situation. Is God first in your life? Are your decisions based on God, man or your emotions. Is God your God in good and bad times, is he God in your daily life. Do you wake up to him or to your phone to flood your heart with timelines on Instagram or whatever else. Where does most of your time go?

Now if you have recognised that you had placed your job, phone , friends as more to you than God, turn back to God while he still can be found (Isaiagh 55:6). Ask God to show you how to put him first in the midst of life’s demands. Cast all your anxieties on God because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

God loves us so much he wants to be part of our daily life. If you are like me and God has moved some people away from you and got you out of your comfort zone then use that season to spend time with God and truly follow him.

Even  friendships have seasons it could be that you are not going the same direction, it does not make them a bad person, its just the season God is wanting you in. Maybe you so badly need money, or anything you desire ask God to give you wisdom and focus on him while you wait on God.

Remember God will always give you double what you lose for his sake. That is why his thoughts and ways for us are higher than ours. (Isaiagh 55;9). Do not be tempted to run back to the things that God is taking you away from in those seasons. It is painful yes but it is a season, it will not last forever. In due season God will give you all that you desire, notice its “in due” season. There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

God loves you so much, will you just spend time with him.

Love and blessings

In his service
